Integrity is one of the most valuable and often rare attributes in existence. Some people claim they have integrity but they seem to only have it when everyone is watching. The mark of a true and genuine individual is someone who maintains integrity at all times.
For law enforcement this attribute is integral. No matter what the assignment is, or what rank an officer may be, that attribute of putting your best foot forward, and being honest no matter what counts.
When it comes to crime scenes it is imperative that investigators maintain integrity both in how they handle a scene, process a scene, and how evidence is maintained. Integrity not only refers to ones’ actions but it also refers to quality. For instance, when evidence is documented and collected from a scene, it is preserved properly with the chain of custody in tact in order to preserve it’s integrity. This all falls on the crime scene investigator and evidence technicians.
Whether you are collecting a partial latent fingerprint from an alleged “b and e” or you are collecting blood evidence from a homicide, put your best foot forward, maintaining integrity at all times. The more you care as an officer or investigator, the better the entire case will be handled.
