The latest era of technological advancements has included forensics and investigative tools! Here is a quick look at three of the top technological advancements in the forensic world.

1. 3D Fingerprinting Technology: 3D printing can now be used to print fingerprints! The main use of this type of technology thus far has been for accessing fingerprint protected electronic devices. With a 3D version of a fingerprint, investigators can access those devices listed on their search warrants much more easily.

2. Apps: There are numerous applications now available for law enforcement use. These include everything from radio use between officers, to tracking potential suspects, or communicating with the public. Though not all law enforcement agencies issue officer cell phones, many do. With that the use of an application is easy, convenient, and efficient, changing the way some departments work and communicate.

3. Digital Evidence: The way digital evidence is being extracted, tracked, and stored is

advancing rapidly. This is due to companies taking that evidence and storing it in secure clouds for easier access to those investigators who need it. Gone are the days of floppy disks, and CDs with digital evidence.
